Submit Your Manuscript

That's right. We're open to submissions! We’d love to take a look at your work and see if it's a good fit for us. Send us the story you put too much of yourself in, you know, the one that wouldn't let you sleep. We want to see the stories where you changed a single word in Chapter 2, then changed it back, then stared at the ceiling questioning your entire life choices.

Please do not send us AI-generated mush where you're pretending you wrote it. That’s an immediate no. We’re looking for real, human-written books with real emotion and possible coffee stains.


What We Publish

Raven Creek Books publishes adult fiction exclusively. Read what we want below. We're not stuck to these genres, so if you think it'll be a good fit, send it to us.

  • Off Campus Series. Seriously. The books are great, and we've also watched the TV Show more than three times. We need anything Sports Romance.

What we're NOT a fit for:

  • AI Generated anything.
  • Space Operas
  • Military
  • Western (unless it's romance)
  • Poetry
  • Non-fiction

Raven Creek Books does not publish children's fiction or young adult (YA) titles. Check out Fuzzy Foot Press if you're an author of these genres.

Submission Guidelines

Please prepare your submission package carefully. Submissions that do not meet these requirements may not receive a response.

Query Letter

A single-page query letter (approx. 300–400 words) including: a one-paragraph hook/pitch, a brief synopsis of the full manuscript, genre and word count, and a short author bio that mentions your writing credentials (if applicable). If your book is a planned series, please mention that. Address the letter to Leslie & Taylor.

Synopsis

A full plot synopsis of 1–2 pages (single-spaced). The synopsis must reveal the ending, do not withhold plot resolutions. Clearly identify the protagonist, central conflict, and resolution.

Sample Chapters

The first three chapters of your manuscript. Chapters must be in manuscript format: double-spaced, 12pt Times New Roman, 1-inch margins, page numbers included. Attached to the email. Please do not copy and paste all of the chapters into the body of the email.

We accept unagented and agented submissions.

Stance on AI

Please do not send us anything that has been written by generative AI. This will be an automatic no.

Submissions that arrive incomplete or outside these specifications may not be read.

What Happens Next

We review every submission that meets our guidelines. You will hear from us up to 6 weeks after submission. If your sample pages and query pique our interest, we will reach out via email requestion the full manuscript. A full manuscript request is not an offer of representation, but an invitation for a deeper consideration of your work.

Answers to the questions we hear most from submitting authors.

  • Do you accept simultaneous submissions?

    Yes. We understand that authors submit to multiple publishers simultaneously. However, if your manuscript receives an offer of publication elsewhere, please notify us immediately so we can make an expedited decision or withdraw.

  • How long is my submission held after a full manuscript request?

    Once we request a full manuscript, we ask for a 8-week period to read your manuscript. We will notify you of our decision within that window.

  • Who files for copywrite?

    Raven Creek Books do not file a copyright registration for your book through our publishing program. We want authors to retain their rights and believe the decision to formally register a work should remain with the author.


    We include a copyright notice on the publishing-history page of your book. We also retain records relating to your work if you ever need information on your publishing history.

  • What marketing do you do for my book?

    With a marketing background, this gives us an edge over other small presses.  Any book we take on, will have an entire marketing plan behind it. We will run ads, etc. We do ask for authors to help support those efforts, but do not rely only on an author to bring in new readers.

  • Will I have to pay anything?

    We are a small, traditional publisher. We will never ask you to pay reading fees, editing, cover, etc. We supply everything to get your book to market. We do ask for authors to keep a website and social media presence of their own. This will come with 3rd party fees for the website and hosting. With 20 years in web design, we can offer advice for these.
